Heterostructure-emitter bipolar transistor
TRANSISTOR USING HETEROSTRUCTURE CONFINEMENT IN THE EMITTER
Heterojunction emitter bipolar transistor; Heterostructure emitter bipolar transistor
The Heterojunction-emitter bipolar transistor (HEBT), is a somewhat unusual arrangement with respect to emitter blocking of minority carriers. This is accomplished by using heterostructure confinement in the emitter, introducing an energy barrier to minority-carrier charge flow from the base.

(ECL) (Or "Current Mode Logic") A technology for building logic gates where the emitter of a transistor is used as the output rather than its collector. ECL has a propagation time of 0.5 - 2 ns (faster than TTL) and a power dissipation 3 - 10 times higher than TTL. (1994-11-09)

XVII. Heat ·noun A force in nature which is recognized in various effects, but especially in the phenomena of fusion and evaporation, and which, as manifested in fire, the sun's rays, mechanical action, chemical combination, ·etc., becomes directly known to us through the sense of feeling. In its nature heat is a mode if motion, being in general a form of molecular disturbance or vibration. It was formerly supposed to be a subtile, imponderable fluid, to which was given the name caloric.

Lyman-alpha emitter

A Lyman-alpha emitter (LAE) is a type of distant galaxy that emits Lyman-alpha radiation from neutral hydrogen.

Most known LAEs are extremely distant, and because of the finite travel time of light they provide glimpses into the history of the universe. They are thought to be the progenitors of most modern Milky Way type galaxies. These galaxies can be found nowadays rather easily in narrow-band searches by an excess of their narrow-band flux at a wavelength which may be interpreted from their redshift:

1 + z = λ 1215.67 Å {\displaystyle 1+z={\frac {\lambda }{1215.67\mathrm {\AA} }}}

where z is the redshift, λ {\displaystyle \lambda } is the observed wavelength, and 1215.67 Å is the wavelength of Lyman-alpha emission. The Lyman-alpha line in most LAEs is thought to be caused by recombination of interstellar hydrogen that is ionized by an ongoing burst of star formation. Such Lyman alpha emission was first suggested as a signature of young galaxies by Bruce Partridge and P. J. E. Peebles in 1967. Experimental observations of the redshift of LAEs are important in cosmology because they trace dark matter halos and subsequently the evolution of matter distribution in the universe.
